New Delhi. Tax exemption disturbances? Do not panic, tax Assist is not. Now the Income Tax Department will advise the ‘tax assist’ of the Department of Income Tax. It will also take action on fake donations. Taking advantage of section 80GGC? So tax assist will save you from trouble. Overall, it has become easier to rectify mistakes in ITR.
Explain that the Income Tax Department has started a new facility called “Tax Assist” to help taxpayers. With the help of this, people will be able to easily answer the questions coming while filing their tax returns. This tool is specially designed for those who claim tax exemption under Section 80GGC. This section gives tax exemption to those who donate to a political party or electoral trust.
How will Tax Assist help?
The department has explained how this tool will work by giving examples of three different situations…
1. On claiming exemption by mistake
If someone has inadvertently taken exemption under 80GGC, Tax Assist would advise him whether he improves his return or file an ITR-U. Also, the arrears will ask to deposit tax and interest so that the penalty can be avoided.
2. After showing fake donations
If someone saves tax by claiming false donations, it will be considered tax evasion. In such a situation, tax assist will advise him to file ITR-U and deposit the outstanding amount, otherwise legal action may be taken.
3. On claiming real donation
If the donation is made to a legitimate political party, tax assist would advise that the record of donation receipts and bank transactions protect it, as it may be needed during the investigation.
Why is this initiative necessary?
The purpose of the Income Tax Department is to make the process of paying tax easier and transparent. This will help people to rectify mistakes and stop tax evasion. Also, this facility will help taxpayers respond to notice and understand tax rules.
