Chelsea have been handed $30million (£22.1million) for reaching the final of the FIFA Club World Cup with a victory over Fluminense.

In the scorching heat in New Jersey, which at one point got to as high as 35 degrees Celsius, the Blues managed to defeat the Brazilians. Joao Pedro scored twice against his former club to book him and his teammates another few days in New York.

Just for reaching the final, where they will take on the winner of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, Chelsea have now earned $30million (£22.1million), taking their total prize money from the tournament up to $45.625million (£33.5million). And that is without the participation fee, a figure believed to be close to £28million - meaning altogether Chelsea have got themselves just over £60million from the Club World Cup.

If Chelsea were to be triumphant in Sunday's final, which will again be played at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, then the club would add another $40million (£29.4million) to their accumulated prize fund.

Chelsea were fairly comfortable at the MetLife Stadium. It took Joao Pedro just 18 minutes of his first start to open his account for the Blues. A mishit clearance from Thiago Silva fell to the Brazilian forward, who picked his spot and found the top corner in splendid fashion.

Joao Pedro then fired in Chelsea's second to make absolute sure of the win. Enzo Fernandez played a beautiful pass to the Brazilian before he cut inside and smashed the ball in off the underside of the crossbar. He came off shortly after to a standing ovation - very well deserved after a sensational display in New Jersey.
