The month of Sawan is starting from July 11 and the Kavad Yatra will also start from this day. The journey will run till 31 July. During this time, meats and fish shops will be closed on the routes of Kavad Yatra in Delhi. The Delhi government says that this decision has been taken to honor the religious sentiments of the people.
On Wednesday, Delhi Culture and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra took stock of the preparations for the Kandar Yatra. He visited the paths from Apsara border to Karol Bagh. He said, “Taking care of religious sentiments, it has been decided to close the meat shops on the Kandar Marg, so that religious sentiments can be respected.”
The officers have been instructed to keep cleanliness during the Kanwar Yatra. Traffic police have been asked to keep the traffic system right. Kanwariyas pass through many routes of Delhi. These include Dilshad Garden, Seelampur, Kashmiri Gate and Karol Bagh. These routes have the most crowds of kanwadis.
Kapil Mishra also said that for the first time the government is providing financial assistance to the Kanwar committees. He informed that money is being put in the account of committees for preparation. 50% of the money will be given first and the rest of the Kanwar Yatra is over. This money can range from 50 thousand to 10 lakh rupees. Apart from this, Kanwar committees will also get free electricity up to 1200 units.
According to an estimate, about two and a half million kawandis pass through Delhi. The government is making special preparations to welcome these Kanwari. This time historical gates will be installed for reception. Every camp will also have medical facilities, water and electricity for Kanwari.
