Gleaming gold and sparkling diamonds may be timeless, but this season, Mumbai’s brides are making room for something more ephemeral—fresh flower jewellery. It’s vibrant, customisable, and stunning on camera. With brides leaning into soft pastels and exotic imports, florals are fast becoming the most coveted accessory on the aisle.
‘Brides are going beyond the usual marigolds and roses’
Srishti Kapur, who, along with her mother Kavita, has created flower jewellery for the weddings of celebrities like Sonam Kapoor , Kiara Advani and Karishma Tanna , says experimental brides are going beyond the usual marigolds and roses. She says, “This season, there’s a growing love for button daisy, baby’s breath and Thai crown flowers in soft pastels like lilacs, pinks and whites. These exotic blooms bring a luxe, delicate touch and photograph beautifully under natural light. We’re also seeing a strong preference for our evergreen crepe jasmine flower or tagar kali.”

‘Brides are opting for imported flowers ’
While local flowers are more affordable, brides are opting for imported flowers, such as Thai flowers, which are expensive but also known to last longer. Anushka Patil - Bhadane from Thane, who also creates bridal flower jewellery, says, “We suggest flowers based on the outfit and its colour, but currently the other flowers that brides are loving include Tagar bud, Button chrysanthemums and Santini flowers.”

How to pick flowers that complement your outfit
Red outfit: Yellow-white floral accessories
Pink outfit: Yellow, lilac, lavender and white jewellery
Green outfit: Shades of lavender or pink with a touch of white
Colourful outfits: Opt for white flowers

Keep your flower jewellery fresh longer
*To keep floral jewellery fresh longer, refrigerate it until just before use and avoid direct sunlight
* A light mist of water can help maintain freshness
* For exotic flowers, keeping them in cool, air-conditioned spaces and hydrating stems in advance goes a long way
* Store them flat in ventilated boxes to prevent wilting or crushing
* Opt for flowers with sturdy petals and low moisture content

I wanted one of my looks to be fun and fuss-free, so I went with floral jewellery instead of heavy pieces. We used jasmine and pastel daisies to match my outfit, and it looked dreamy in the morning light

Brides are choosing floral kaleeras in ombré tones, layering floral necklaces with pearls, and even adding customised initials or charms. Hair accessories like floral tiaras and statement maang tikkas made with mixed materials are also trending
