Sawan somwar vrat katha: Sawan month is the fifth month of Hindu New Year. This month is considered good for worshiping Bholenath. The month of Sawan in the year 2025 has started from July 11. The fast of the first Monday of Sawan in the month of Sawan will be observed on 14 July 2025.

Sawan Somwar Vrat Katha-

According to the story of Sawan Monday fast, there was a matter of time, there was a moneylender who had no shortage of wealth, but he had no children. He used to fast every Monday to get a son and worshiped Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. One day, Mother Parvati talked to Lord Shiva about the devotion of the moneylender. He said that this moneylender is a very devotee of you and if it is troublesome, then you should remove it. Lord Shiva said that O Parvati, this moneylender does not have a son and he remains unhappy with this.

Mother Parvati said that Lord, you fulfill the wishes of this moneylender. Lord Shiva said that okay, I give this moneylender a boon of son, but this son will live only for 12 years.

When the moneylender came to know about this, he was sad, but he thanked Lord Shiva. After 12 years, the moneylender's son became ill and died. The moneylender and his wife were very sad, but they maintained their faith in Lord Shiva.

After some time, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati came to the moneylender's house in disguise of a Brahmin. He told the moneylender that he can make his son alive, but for this he will have to fast on Monday. The moneylender fasted on Monday 16 and his son got a life. Thus, all wishes are fulfilled by keeping the fast of Sawan Monday and listening to the story.
