A shameful case of molestation of a young woman in a public place has come to light at Kangra bus stand in Himachal Pradesh last night. The incident took place around 11 pm when a young woman going from Shimla to Palampur was waiting for the bus.

The victim shared her tragedy on social media, after which the police took quick action and arrested the accused bus conductor.

The woman in detail in her social media post told how a person started doing obscene acts in front of her while waiting for the bus at Kangra bus stand. He wrote, 'At 11:00 pm, I was waiting for the bus going to Palampur at Kangra bus stand. Then a person came in front of me and started making obscene gestures. At first I tried to ignore her, thought maybe my illusion. But according to the victim, after some time that person did even more embarrassing acts, opening the zip of his pants and started making obscene gestures.

When this girl, who hails from Shimla, opposed it and raised a loud voice, the accused pretended to talk on the phone to save herself and tried to become innocent. The victim said that the accused was intoxicated by alcohol. The situation worsened when some people called the accused after the woman raised their voice and attacked her brother standing with her. Taking advantage of this chaos, the accused escaped from the spot. The victim alleged that she tried to contact the Kangra police, but no help was reached by 11:40 pm.

After the incident came to light, Kangra SP Shalini Agnihotri issued a press release to the media that the police had taken prompt action in the matter. He said that the police team immediately reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported on 112 helpline at night and found the victim at the bus stand. The victim informed the officers present on the spot about the entire incident.

The police immediately initiated legal action, showing readiness and an FIR was lodged the same night. The SP informed that the accused was arrested the next morning. In the press note issued by the police, it was also told that SHO Kangra and his team also made arrangements for the victim and her family to stay and eat at night. SP Shalini Agnihotri reiterated that the police is committed to ensure public safety and is always ready to provide assistance to every needy citizen. The accused is said to be the conductor of a private bus and he is a resident of Lanj area of Kangra. The police have not revealed the identity of the accused.
