From August 15, 2025, vehicle owners in India will witness a major shift in how toll fees are paid. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is launching a new Annual FASTag Toll Pass Scheme that allows drivers to pay ₹3000 and enjoy 200 free trips per year across all NHAI-managed toll plazas and national expressways. Here’s everything you need to know.
This new toll policy aims to simplify payments and reduce the financial burden for frequent travelers. Under the plan, for a fixed ₹3000 fee per year, users can travel up to 200 times on NHAI toll roads without paying extra at the toll booths.
The Annual Toll Pass will be available from August 15, 2025. Users can register through the NHAI portal or the RajmargYatra mobile app once the feature is activated.
₹3000 per vehicle, valid for 1 year
Includes 200 trips
After either 200 trips or 12 months (whichever comes first), the pass must be renewed
No separate toll payment required for 200 trips across NHAI toll plazas and national expressways
Saves money for regular commuters (e.g., Delhi to Rishikesh users recover cost in just 6 trips)
Eliminates the hassle of topping up FASTag frequently
No. You don’t need a new FASTag. The annual pass will be linked to your existing FASTag, provided it is not blacklisted.
Only through NHAI's website or RajmargYatra app
Not available on UPI platforms yet
Valid across all:
NHAI-controlled toll plazas
National Expressways
India has over 1000+ NHAI-operated toll booths, all of which will accept this annual pass.
Not valid on:
Toll booths under state governments
Toll plazas run by private companies
Example: Traveling from Delhi to Muzaffarnagar? Your pass won’t work at Meerut’s Sivaya toll, as it’s a non-NHAI booth.
Only for private vehicles
Commercial vehicles are not eligible (yet)
Future plans may include separate schemes for commercial users
Point-based tolls: Each toll crossing (entry or return) = 1 trip
Closed toll system: Entry + Exit on the same journey = 1 trip
Example: If you travel from Noida to Panipat via Eastern Peripheral Expressway, it’s counted as one trip
One vehicle per pass only. No multiple-vehicle linking.
If 200 trips are exhausted before the year ends, a fresh recharge is needed
The pass automatically deactivates after one year even if unused trips remain
The toll pass is optional, not mandatory
The pass is tied to the vehicle registration number, not chassis number
If you:
Travel frequently on national highways
Regularly cross toll booths under NHAI
Want to save on toll fees and skip the hassle of top-ups
Then this ₹3000 Annual FASTag Toll Pass is a smart choice.
