Nearly a decade after the viral fame of Islamabad’s “chaiwala” (tea seller) Arshad Khan, a new sensation has emerged — the “kapray wala” (cloth seller) from Skardu.
A video of a young man running a fabric shop in the scenic city of Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, has gone viral. Social media users are already dubbing him even more handsome than the original “chaiwala.”
The video of the blue-eyed “kapray wala” was first shared by a local female journalist, after which it quickly spread across social media platforms. Several entertainment and lifestyle pages picked up the clip, further boosting his popularity.
In the video, the young man shares that while his family has been running a clothing shop in Skardu for around 45 years, their roots do not lie in the region. He revealed that his ancestral home is in Mardan, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He explained that for the past six to seven years, he has been managing the family business in Skardu. He also mentioned that many people have complimented his striking blue eyes and good looks.
Despite the sudden fame, the handsome young shopkeeper said he has no interest in modeling or showbiz and is content running his clothing store.
After the video went viral, social media users praised his beauty and even requested that a link to his Instagram profile be shared.
This new internet sensation draws inevitable comparisons to Arshad Khan — the original “chaiwala” — whose photo while preparing tea in Islamabad went viral back in 2016. Interestingly, he also hailed from Mardan.
Arshad Khan’s sudden fame catapulted him into the world of modeling and entrepreneurship. He later opened a series of tea cafés internationally under the brand name “Arshad Chaiwala.”
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Arshad Khan may actually be of Afghan origin, and his citizenship case is currently being reviewed by the courts.
