According to Znews, China Times reported that Jacky borrowed HK$2 million from the MGM-operated casino in 2024 and exchanged it for chips to gamble but has failed to repay the loan on time as agreed. As a result, MGM China Holdings has filed a lawsuit in a Hong Kong court to recover the debt.
According to court documents, under the terms of the agreement, MGM China Holdings is entitled to charge an annual interest rate of 18% on Jacky’s loan, which will continue to accrue until the debt is fully settled. The company is now seeking to recover both the principal loan amount and the interest.
The news of Jacky’s lawsuit quickly captured public attention. Many social media users have expressed surprise that the actor would fall into such gambling debt, given his father’s wealth.
Charles, 77, founded Win’s Entertainment in the 1980s and later established China Star Entertainment, a leading Hong Kong-listed production company that played a pivotal role in the rise of cinema icons like Jet Li, Chow Yun Fat, Stephen Chow, Andy Lau, and Johnnie To, according to Variety. In 2022, his net worth was estimated at US$1.2 billion by South China Morning Post.
Jacky, 41, received significant industry support when he entered the entertainment business, allowing him to collaborate early on with A-list stars such as Jet Li, Tony Leung, Fan Bingbing, Huang Xiaoming, Angelababy, and Louis Koo, per QQ.
He has appeared in popular films like “From Vegas to Macau 3,” “Investiture of the Gods,” “Call of Heroes,” “The Warlords,” and “Huo Yuanjia.” However, despite these roles, his acting career has yet to achieve significant acclaim.
Jacky has often described himself as “useless,” attracting more attention for his personal life than his professional one. His romance with model and actress Bea Hayden, whom he met on a reality TV show and married in Sept. 2019, gained widespread media coverage.
In a 2020 interview, Jacky revealed that his bank account contained only HK$20,000 at the time, with all his earnings managed by Bea.
