New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has made a landmark announcement in India with the first-of-its-kind partnership with Perplexity, an artificial intelligence-enabled search and answer platform. In this partnership, Airtel will offer a complimentary 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro worth Rs 17000 to its entire 360 million mobile, broadband, and DTH customers.
Perplexity Pro is an AI-based advanced experience that is aimed at enabling users to seek precise, real-time answers in a conversational manner. The tool has substituted conventional search results with readable, thoroughly researched answers driven by the artificial intelligence (AI) applications like GPT-4.1 and Claude. The collaboration will work to boost productivity, facilitate learning and ensure expert-level AI tools are available at scale.
The free subscription can be activated by all Airtel users via the Airtel Thanks App. This also involves the features of daily Pro search, choice of models, generation of images, file examination, and Perplexity Labs, a creative workspace to generate ideas and materials. This is the first time Perplexity Pro is being offered to a large scale of users in India, as it was previously available only to paying users worldwide.
Airtel emphasisedthe value of this partnership to various groups of users. A Rajkot student might use Perplexity Pro to do systematic research on an academic subject. A housewife in Kanyakumari could use it as an answer engine and guide her on household decisions. In the meantime, a busy businessperson could have a customised family vacation in a matter of seconds; all they had to do was to type in a couple of preferences.
