Youtube Hype: YouTube has started its new creator-focused feature Hype in India, which has brought a great opportunity especially for small and emerging YouTubers. The purpose of this feature is to give more recognition to video creators and get them a place in the list of top hyped videos of YouTube.

What is the Hype feature?

Hype is a tool through which viewers can hype their favorite videos. Giving hype means promoting that video so that it reaches more people and can be included in YouTube's Top 100 Hyped Videos list. This feature is especially available for those YouTubers who have less than 5 lakh subscribers.

How does it work?

A video can be hyped only within the first seven days of its upload.

Every user can hype a video three times a week for free.

When a video gets hyped, it gets points and the more points it gets, the higher its position on the leaderboard.

This leaderboard appears in YouTube's Explore section which includes the top 100 hyped videos of the country.

If a video reaches the top of this list, it can also get a chance to be featured on YouTube's homepage, which can get it even more views.

Small creators will benefit

The main purpose of this feature is to promote those YouTubers who are new or whose subscriber base is small. By giving hype, such creators get bonus points, due to which their videos can move up in the leaderboard quickly. YouTube says, "We want every creator to get an equal opportunity."

According to Google, when the feature was trialled in Turkey, Taiwan and Brazil, Hype was used more than 50 million times in just four weeks and more than 50,000 channels benefited from it.

What else is new?

Apart from Hype, YouTube has launched many more creator-friendly features in 2024 such as automatic dubbing, which allows creators to translate their videos into different languages. Jewels and Gifts, which viewers can give to creators as digital gifts during live streaming. Inspiration Tab, where creators can get suggestions for ideas, titles, thumbnails and scripts from AI.

How to use Hype?

When a video is uploaded, the Hype option will appear near the Like button below it. Viewers can hype the video from there. This feature gets activated automatically and the creator does not need to do anything separately. Overall, this new feature of YouTube is a big step towards bringing small creators forward and making their hard work reach a larger audience.
