Experts in these sectors can become professors directly without passing UGC NET.
UGC had made some changes in January 2025 for the appointment of teachers in the university. In these changes, UGC has made rules for the appointment of experts as professors without passing NET, under which rules have been made to appoint experts from a total of 8 fields, like yoga, music, performing arts, visual arts, sculpture, and drama, based on their experience.

For example, if the experts of these sectors have a graduation and 5 years of experience in their sector, then they will be eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Professor without passing UGC NET. Similarly, experts with 10 years of experience will be eligible to become Associate Professor, and experts with 15 years of experience will be eligible to become Professor.

Appointment without NET pass in these sectors, too

According to the new guidelines of UGC, Master of Engineering and Master of Technology degree holders will also be eligible to become Assistant Professors in the University without UGC NET. According to the new guidelines of UGC, Master of Engineering and Master of Technology degree holders with 55% marks will be eligible to become Assistant Professor in the University and affiliated colleges without passing UGC NET.

UGC has also changed the rules for appointment of Vice Chancellor
UGC had also changed the rules for appointment of Vice Chancellor in the University. Earlier, only those with academic and teaching experience were appointed as Vice Chancellors, but according to the new rules of UGC, experts from industry, public administration, public policy, and Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) can also be appointed as Vice Chancellors. The age limit for this has been fixed at 70 years.
