WhatsApp Has started testing a very special feature in its new beta version for Android. This feature allows users to interact through a voice interface with Meta AI. With this update, some beta testers may now join a call-like voice session with Meta AI, which will be active even after changing the app.
When a user opens the Meta AI from the Chats tab, he sees a wavephor icon. A voice session can be started by tapping on it. If the user wants to open the Meta AI chat, the voice chat automatically goes on, then he can go to ‘Voice Preference’ and turn it on it.
Voice chat starts automatically without any additional click when opening the Meta AI from Calls tab. This design works in the same way as a normal voice call.
If you want, users can keep the voice session operational in the background by tapping on the icon. For example, read a text by opening the notes app and take feedback from Meta AI, or ask for an interpretation of a term reading the website on the browser.
The Meta AI screen will have some default decorations, which will help users start the conversation. Users can also share direct photos or gallery files from text input bars. Support of other formats like documents can also be added to the future.
Users can know when Mike is active through Android system’s privacy indicator (greenery dot). This is a system-level feature that the apps cannot change, due to which the user’s audio privacy persists.
The user can mute the microphone whenever you want, or close the voice session from the “X” button. If you want, the user can return to the text mode and continue the conversation.
This feature will help those who like to speak instead of typing. This feature is very useful for users driving, working or limited movement. Voice interaction with Meta AI gives more natural and human-lick feel.
This voice chat feature is currently available for beta users, but it will be released for more users in the coming weeks.
