In 93 years of Indian Test cricket, a total 318 players have earned their Test caps. Many would think that CK Nayudu was India's first Test cricketer but he's not. India's first ever Test cricketer, who received the cap number 1 is Amar Singh. He played his first Test against England at Lord's in 1932.

India's batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar received cap number 187, Sunil Gavaskar received the cap number 128, while Virat Kohli received cap number 269 when he made his Test debut against West Indies in Kingston in 2011.

In the current Test series against England, Anshul Kamboj became the second debutant player after B Sai Sudharsan. Kamboj was given India's Test cap no. 318.

India hosted their first Test match against England in 1932. Several players have been with the team over the years but without any debut opportunity. For instance, Abhimanyu Easwaran has traveled with Team India three times but hasn't played a Test match yet.

Arshdeep Singh also failed to get his Test debut in this England series. Before Sai Sudharsan, Harshit Rana debuted for Australia in the Test side and was awarded cap number 316. One can easily witness this cap number written under the logo of BCCI on the jersey of the player.

Among the 318 players, only a handful of them have played 100 or more Tests for India. Sachin Tendulkar is the sole player to have played 200 Test matches. As many as 14 Indian players have played 100 or more Tests since 1932.
