MG Comet EV prices hiked up to Rs 15k: Here’s what it costs now

MG Motor has increased prices for the Comet EV once again. This is the third price revision for the micro electric hatch this year. With a hike of up to Rs 15,000 in the latest update, prices for Comet EV now start at Rs 7.50 lakh (exshowroom, battery inclusive). Under the Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, prices for Comet EV begin at Rs 4.99 lakh (exshowroom).

Besides, prices for battery subscription as per BaaS module has been increased from Rs 2.9 per km to Rs 3.1 per km. At the time of introduction of this scheme, the battery rental for Comet EV was Rs 2.50 per km. The Comet EV is available in four trims namely Executive, Excite, Exclusive, and Blackstorm Edition. MG Comet EV: Features & Specs

Apart from the price update, there’s no other changes in the Comet EV. In terms of features, the Comet EV comes equipped with dual 10.25inch screens — comprising a touchscreen infotainment and a digital instrument cluster — wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a manual AC, electrically foldable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), keyless entry, power windows, and a 4speaker sound system.

Safety is handled by features like dual front airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), all four disc brakes, hillhold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a reverse parking camera and sensors, and an electronic parking brake.

Powering the Comet EV is a 17.4 kWh battery pack that delivers energy to an electric motor mounted on the rear axle delivering 41 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. This powertrain claims a range of 230 km on a single charge. Top speed of the electric hatchback is limited to 85 kmph. The claimed charge time from 0 to 100 percent with the 7.4kW and 3.3kW chargers is 3.5 hours and seven hours, respectively.
