IRCTC Users ID Ban: Indian Railways has taken a big step to prevent fraud in online ticket booking. It has deactivated more than 2.5 crore IRCTC user IDs. This action was taken when the Railways noticed suspicious booking patterns and user behavior through data checking.

Many people used to complain that tickets disappear within a few minutes of ticket booking starting. This problem was due to misuse by agents and bots. According to ET's report, MP A.D. Singh raised questions about this in Parliament, in response to which the government gave this information.

More than 2.5 crore user IDs removed

Railways said that more than 2.5 crore user IDs have been removed to prevent disturbances in the ticket booking system, as their credentials were found suspicious. The demand for tickets in railways does not remain the same throughout the year. Trains with certain routes and convenient timings are always crowded, but seats are easily available in other trains. Railways have taken several steps to provide confirmed tickets to passengers, increase transparency, and promote digital methods.

Now tickets can be booked online or at computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters on a first-come, first-served basis. Currently, about 89% of tickets are being booked online. A digital payment facility has also been started at PRS counters.

Now, only Aadhaar-verified users will be able to book Tatkal tickets through the IRCTC website or app. Agents will not be allowed to book tickets for the first 30 minutes of Tatkal booking. This will increase the chances of common passengers getting tickets.

The booking system will be better.

Railways constantly monitors the waiting list of trains. Special trains are run when there is high demand, and additional coaches are added to trains so that more seats can be available. Apart from this, programs like option and upgradation scheme have been started so that waitlisted passengers can get confirmed tickets, and available seats are used properly.

Railways has also implemented new reforms like making Aadhaar verification mandatory for Tatkal booking, banning agents during peak hours, and promoting digital payments at PRS counters. All these steps are for the convenience of passengers and transparency in the booking system. The Railways aim to make it easier for real passengers to book tickets and eliminate the hassles caused by agents or bots.
