Son of Sardaar 2 is facing a screen crunch ahead of its August 1 release due to the strong box office run of Saiyaara and rising demand for Mahavatar Narsimha. While Dhadak 2 also releases the same day, its makers are opting for a strategic, limited release across 1,000 urban-focused screens, adapting to the crowded exhibition space.

Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, is just days away from its release on August 1, 2024, and is set to face a box office clash with Dhadak 2, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri. Amid this, reports suggest that Son of Sardaar 2 is struggling to secure screens in theatres due to the high demand for Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha, both of which are currently creating a wave at the box office.

Son Of Sardaar 2 Struggling To Get Screens

According to Pinkvilla, the distributors of PVR Inox are reportedly finding it difficult to secure the required number of screens for Son of Sardaar 2 in non-national chains and single-screen theatres. With Saiyaara continuing its strong box office run, exhibitors are unwilling to drop Ahaan Panday's film even in its third week.

Meanwhile, Mahavatar Narsimha is also beginning to gain momentum, leading to a surge in audience demand and an increase in its show count.

Dhadak 2's Interesting Approach

Dhadak 2, which is also releasing on August 1, is taking a more strategic approach with its release. Interestingly, the current showcasing plan in non-national chains and single screens continues to favour Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha. As a result, the makers of Dhadak 2 are opting for a tighter release strategy, targeting around 1,000 screens on the first day, primarily focused on urban markets rather than aiming for a wide release.

"It’s a strategy similar to what team Dharma followed with Kesari 2, and they are looking to increase their shows over the weekend if the word of mouth comes in their favour. The issue is with Son of Sardaar 2 – a bigger film, which is aiming for a release on over 3500 screens, but the circumstances might restrict it to 2500 screens with scattered showcasing," the report said.

Son of Sardaar 2 makers will get a clear picture on the show sharing ratios will be available by Thursday (July 31).
