Sarha Asghar recently spoke out about the negative influence vloggers are having on society through their unrealistic and showy lifestyles. She expressed her concerns during an appearance on Vicky Khan’s podcast, where she openly discussed various topics.

Sarha said that vloggers and YouTubers deliberately portray a life that is very different from ordinary reality. She explained that if they didn’t do this, perhaps people wouldn’t watch their content. This kind of staged, exaggerated lifestyle, she argued, is misleading and promotes false trends in society, pulling people away from the truth.

Talking about the tragic case of Sana Yusuf’s murder, Sarha stressed that parents need to be more vigilant and should not allow their children to use social media at a very young age. She explained that young children do not have the awareness to distinguish who is genuine and who is not on these platforms.

According to Sarha, parents should focus on building a strong bond with their children at an early age. A strong relationship will encourage kids to share everything with their parents, and even if the children make mistakes, parents will be aware and able to guide them.

Regarding the murder case, Sarha said she cannot assign blame to any one party because she doesn’t know the full details of their relationship. Instead, she holds social media itself responsible for creating dangerous environments.

She further criticized vloggers for showing exaggerated gestures, such as giving huge bouquets to their life partners—something ordinary people cannot afford. Sarha believes vloggers should show more realistic content in their videos that viewers can relate to, because such over-the-top displays rarely happen in everyday life.

She emphasized that vloggers need to be responsible given their massive audience and avoid promoting unrealistic lifestyles.

For context, last month YouTuber Moaz Safdar made headlines by gifting his wife Saba an enormous and extremely expensive bouquet of roses, valued between three to four hundred thousand Pakistani rupees, which even required a special truck to deliver. This extravagant display was shared widely on social media and sparked much discussion.
