The team wanted to include them in this match, but this difficult decision was taken giving priority to their health.
The assistant coach said that Bumrah bowled a lot in three Tests. Even though he bowled the ball in only one innings in Manchester, his workload had already increased considerably. Bumrah made it clear before the tour that he would be available for three matches. The team respected his decision and decided to keep out of the fifth Test keeping in mind his workload. Ten Doshet also said that in which matches Bumrah has to rest, it was decided not on any accurate scientific basis, but by looking at his position.
The decision not to feed Bumrah in the fifth Test was surprising for many players. Ten Doshet said that the wicket of the Oval is considered good for batting despite being bounced.
