In which the first name comes of BLO at the initial level. BLOs have many tasks from making voter cards to checking voter lists. In such a situation, let us know how much salary they get...
Recently, there was a big relief news for the Booth Level Officers (BLO) of Bihar. Recognizing their hard work, the Election Commission has announced an increase in their honorarium. Now BLOs will get double the salary as compared to earlier. Apart from this, it has been decided to give them more remuneration in some special election campaigns as well.
BLOs will now get an annual remuneration of Rs 12,000. Earlier it was only Rs 6,000. Similarly, the honorarium of BLO supervisor has also been increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000. The special thing is that BLOs working in the special revision campaign of the voter list will now be given Rs 2000 instead of Rs 1000.
The Election Commission has also said that BLOs and assistant BLOs are the backbone of the electoral system. The correct form of the voter list is prepared only with their hard work and accurate information. The Commission has taken this decision after almost 10 years, because the remuneration of BLOs was last revised in 2015. Now when electoral awareness is increasing across the country and digital platforms are also being used rapidly, the responsibilities of BLOs have increased further.
What is the work?
The work of BLOs is not just to fill the voter list, but they go door-to-door to collect information. They have to see who is the new voter in the area, whose name needs to be removed, or whose name or address needs to be corrected. Along with this, if a person is disabled, elderly or a female voter, then it is also the responsibility of the BLO to help them.
The BLO is given the responsibility of filling and checking documents like Form-6, Form-7 and Form-8. Apart from this, they also look after the arrangements at the booth during elections, give information to the voters and solve any problem. The presence of BLO keeps the arrangements of the polling stations smooth.
This deployment of BLO is mainly done from among teachers, Anganwadi workers, health workers or other government employees. They are assigned a booth near their home or workplace, so that they can identify and work with the local people in a better way. Many times BLOs are also included in the voter awareness campaign.
