Weather Update: Rain alert from Delhi-NCR to UP, know IMD’s warning

Rainfall warnings have been issued in many parts of the country. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), light to heavy rains are expected in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on August 8.

Today Delhi will be partly cloudy and light showers may occur in some areas . On the other hand, the effect of rain will be more in the western UP parts of NCR like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Bijnor. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning (Delhi weather today).

Rain alert in UP, Haryana and Punjab

Yellow alert has been issued in more than 40 districts in Uttar Pradesh (UP rain alert). Heavy rain is expected in many cities including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Meerut and Bareilly. Farmers are expected to get relief from this.

The weather remains bad in Haryana too. Moderate rain may occur in districts like Panchkula, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Panipat, Rohtak and Jhajjar. There is a possibility of rain in almost all the districts except Sirsa. According to (Haryana weather news), the weather may remain bad for the next few days as well.

Continuous rain in Punjab has brought relief from humidity and heat. There is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in many parts of the state on Friday. IMD has also issued a lightning warning. People have been advised to remain alert (Punjab weather update).

Alarm bells in hill states

According to (Uttarakhand heavy rain alert) and (Himachal weather report), heavy rains are continuing in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Floods are expected in Uttarkashi, Nainital and Pauri. In many districts of Himachal, 7 to 20 cm of rain has been recorded in the last few days.

Monsoon has weakened in Rajasthan at present. Alwar, Bharatpur and Dholpur may receive light rain. There are chances of rain in Dausa, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur from 9th August. There is also a possibility of rain in Sikar and Jhunjhunu on 10th August. According to (Rajasthan monsoon news), seasonal activities may intensify again after 15th August.
