Ayub Khoso, one of Pakistan’s most seasoned actors, recently shared the unusual and charming tale of how he stepped into the world of entertainment — a journey that began with nothing more than curiosity and a fondness for beautiful faces.

Speaking during a private TV channel’s morning show, Khoso recalled the early days when the thought of acting had not even crossed his mind. Instead, the young Khoso would often find himself wandering into the corridors of Pakistan Television (PTV), drawn in by the allure of the environment — and, as he candidly admitted with a smile, “to see the beautiful girls there.”

One day, fate intervened. Karim Baloch, then General Manager of PTV, spotted Khoso strolling around the station and asked him why he was there. Khoso replied innocently that he was simply there to look around the TV station. Amused, Baloch posed a question that would alter the course of Khoso’s life: “Do you want to act in a drama?”

The young visitor did not hesitate. “Yes,” he replied without a second thought. That single conversation set in motion what would become a celebrated acting career. Khoso’s first steps into the industry began with roles in Balochi-language dramas, marking the start of a decades-long presence in Pakistan’s entertainment scene.

Reflecting on his journey, Khoso shared that his father had envisioned a different path for him — that of a bureaucrat. Dutifully, Khoso pursued his education, but the pull of the performing arts proved stronger than any parental plan. While he may not have joined the civil service, he found a calling that brought him lasting fulfillment and nationwide recognition.

Today, Ayub Khoso stands as a respected figure in Pakistan’s showbiz industry, known for his versatility, commanding screen presence, and dedication to the craft. Yet, as he tells it, none of this would have happened had he not been wandering PTV’s halls that day, guided only by curiosity and a touch of youthful mischief.

His story is a reminder that sometimes the most remarkable journeys begin in the most unexpected ways — and that a single question, asked at the right time, can change the direction of a life forever.
