SSC CGL 2025 Postponed: There is big news for lakhs of candidates preparing for the SSC CGL exam this year for government jobs. While on one hand, the candidates were waiting for the SSC CGL admit card to be released soon on ssc.gov.in, the Staff Selection Commission has decided to postpone this exam. The dates of when the SSC CGL exam 2025 will be held will be released soon on the official website.

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced the postponement of the Tier-1 exam of SSC CGL 2025. Originally, this exam was to be held between 13 and 30 August 2025. But due to technical flaws in the recent SSC Selection-Post (Phase XIII) exam (server crash, login failure, and questions not loading), many candidates had to face problems. Due to these reasons, SSC has decided to conduct the CGL exam in the first week of September.

Why was the SSC CGL exam postponed?

The Staff Selection Commission clarified in a notice issued on 8 August 2025 that the CGL Tier-1 exam is being postponed due to technical flaws (such as server crash, login problem, questions not opening, etc.). These flaws came to the fore during the last exam, i.e., Selection-Post (Phase XIII) exam. Due to this, the credibility of the entire CBT platform of SSC came into question. For this reason, it became imperative for SSC to improve the examination system.

Now there will be no paper leaks.

As per the instructions received from the Supreme Court (Writ Petition Civil 234/2018), the Staff Selection Commission has also decided to implement reforms in CBEs (Computer Based Examinations). As part of this process, Aadhaar-based authentication and other security measures are also being implemented. This will help in avoiding incidents like paper leak, cheating, and no questions can be raised on the credibility of SSC.

Re-exam for affected candidates
SSC informed in its notice that about 55,000 candidates were affected due to technical or data-related glitches during the selection-post examination. Then SSC did a log analysis, and only after that was it decided that these candidates should be given a second opportunity to appear in the examination. They will get a chance to appear in the examination on 29 August 2025, and their previous attempt will be considered cancelled. Admit cards for this exam will be issued from 26 August 2025.

When will the SSC CGL exam be held?

SSC CGL Tier 1 exam was earlier scheduled to be held between 13–30 August 2025. But now it will be held in the first week of September. Information about the revised exam calendar and city intimation slip will be released soon on the official website ssc.gov.in. Admit cards for the SSC CGL exam will be released 4 days before the new exam date. Candidates are advised to check the latest updates related to the exam on this website.

The OTR window will open again
SSC has decided to reopen the One Time Registration (OTR) edit window from 14 to 31 August 2025. During this time, candidates can improve their registration details - such as personal information, contact details, educational qualification, etc. This step has been taken to make the upcoming application processes seamless and authentic. Keep in mind that OTR will be closed after August 31. After this there will be no chance to edit.
