On Sunday morning, a speeding Thar vehicle in Delhi struck two pedestrians. One individual tragically lost their life at the scene, while the other sustained serious injuries. This incident occurred near the 11 Murti area, just 2 kilometers from the President's residence.
The police received reports of the accident around 6:30 AM. Upon arrival, they discovered that a fast-moving Thar had collided with two individuals. The impact was so severe that one person died instantly. The other victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment. According to DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla from New Delhi, the driver, 26-year-old Ashish, was en route from Gurgaon to Chhatarpur, and the vehicle belonged to a friend.
Inside the Thar, police found bottles of alcohol, raising suspicions that the driver may have been intoxicated. However, during questioning, the accused claimed he had dozed off while driving, leading to the accident. Authorities are conducting a medical test on the driver to confirm his state at the time of the incident. A forensic team is also investigating and collecting evidence from the scene.
The victim's body remained on the road for several hours before being removed. Images from the accident site reveal that the Thar was severely damaged, with its wheels dislodged. The police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation.
