Essential conditions for opening Jan Aushadhi Kendra

To open a center under this scheme, you must have a D Pharma or B Pharma certificate. Also, you should have at least 120 square feet of space. The application fee for opening a Jan Aushadhi Kendra is Rs 5,000. There are three types of categories in it, the first includes doctors, pharmacists, and registered medical practitioners. The second category includes trusts, NGOs, and private hospitals, while the third category includes those nominated by the state government.

Help and income from the government

The government provides you with various types of financial assistance for opening a Jan Aushadhi Kendra. Every month, you get an incentive of 15 percent or a maximum of Rs 15,000 on the sale of medicines worth up to Rs 5 lakh. A one-time assistance of Rs 2 lakh is also given for special categories and infrastructure. You can get assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh for furniture and up to Rs 50,000 for a computer-printer. You get an additional commission of up to 20 percent on selling medicines through Jan Aushadhi Kendra.

Target to open 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras by March 2027

There were only 80 Jan Aushadhi Kendras in the country in 2014, which have now increased to 16,912. UP has the highest number of 3,550 centers, followed by Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The government aims to open 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Centers by March 2027. Currently, the scheme includes 2,110 types of medicines and 315 surgical and medical equipment, which meet almost all the necessary treatment needs.

How to apply to open a Jan Aushadhi Center?

To open a Jan Aushadhi Center, you have to apply by visiting janaushadhi.gov.in. Aadhar card, PAN card, pharmacist registration certificate, address proof, and mobile number are necessary documents. The application has to be submitted by filling out the online registration form, setting the password, and accepting the terms and conditions. Registration has to be done in this way.

First of all, go to janaushadhi.gov.in.

Click on the 'APPLY FOR KENDRA' option on the homepage.

After this, a new page will open.
If you have registered here, then enter your mobile number, email ID, or user ID and log in through OTP.
If you are not registered under the scheme, then you will see the option of Register now below, click on it.
Now the registration form will appear on your screen in which you can create a password by entering your name, mobile number, email ID, user ID, and then enter the captcha code, tick the box shown below, and go to Create Account.
Now your registration is done and your account has been created.
After the registration is complete, a user ID and password will be sent to your email, through which you can log in to the portal.

You can also log in by entering your user ID and password or by selecting the 'Get OTP' option from the registered mobile number/email.

After login, you will be told 4 steps on the new page, in which Step 1- Application Form, Step 2 - "Download Letter In- Principal Approval", Step 3 - For "Drug License Submission", and Step 4- "Generation Of Store Code".

Click on Proceed below this. Now fill in the application form carefully. After this, complete the remaining three steps one by one.

Fill in the basic details and details of the proposed center, and upload the necessary documents in PDF format, following the rules related to distance. Each file should be smaller than 5 MB.

To tag the location, drag and drop the location icon inside the blue circle on the map and set it to your shop/address.

Select both the tick boxes below and go to paynow and deposit the application fee of Rs 5,000 only through the online payment gateway available on the portal.

After this, your application will be successfully submitted, and its confirmation will be sent to your registered email.
