Mahindra is all geared up for its annual gala event on 15 August that has been named Freedom NU this year. Besides the four new concepts to be showcased, Mahindra will also share details about the upcoming modular vehicle platform called New Flexible Architecture (NFA).
However, ahead of this grand unveiling, Mahindra will launch a special edition model of the BE 6 on 14 August. The company has taken to its official social media handles to tease the same. From the latest teaser, it seems Mahinda is most likely to bring out a dark edition model of the coupe electric SUV.
The social media post comprises a teaser video with the caption saying “Born in the shadows. Built for the spotlight”. Although the clip doesn’t explicitly mention BE 6 anywhere, the silhouette almost gives it away and the sculpted bonnet almost gives it away. In all probability, this upcoming version of BE 6 could be called the Shadow Edition.
The tradition of special dark edition models is now a common occurrence among all carmakers in India. However, what makes this special is the fact that Mahindra offers the option of a stealth black exterior shade with the BE 6 already. We believe the upcoming BE 6 special edition could come with a matte black exterior paint scheme. The matte black exterior finish on the BE 6 is likely to be complemented with subtle contrasting elements.
Although the teaser doesn’t reveal any glimpse of its cabin, we expect the interiors to reciprocate the exteriors with allblack cabin featuring darkened seat upholstery. As for equipment, we expect the upcoming BE 6 dark/shadow edition to share the same set of features as the rest of the lineup. This includes twin 12.3inch screens for infotainment and instrument panel, a fixed glass panoramic sunroof, leatherette upholstery and a 16speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos surround sound.
The Mahindra BE 6 is offered with two battery pack choices — 59kWh and 79kWh. The smaller unit produces 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, while the larger delivers 281 bhp with the same torque output. The topspec variant is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds. There are three drive modes on offer namely Range, Everyday, and Race. On a full charge, the 59kWh pack provides an ARAIcertified range of 556km, whereas the 79kWh pack extends this to 682km.
