A "dazzling" action blockbuster from Christopher Nolan is set to broadcast on BBC One tonight, which means it will also be accessible to stream without charge for a limited period on BBC iPlayer.

The visionary filmmaker is renowned for his brain-twisting sci-fi action epics Inception and Interstellar, as well as reimagining Batman for cinema audiences in The Dark Knight trilogy.

Remaining one of Hollywood's most commercially successful directors, he even succeeded in delivering a breathtaking cinematic thriller to theatres during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tenet became the fifth highest-earning film of 2020 despite cinema limitations at the time, and has subsequently gained even greater popularity thanks to an expanding cult following.

Whilst it may not rank amongst his most critically acclaimed works, currently holding 70 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it remains ideal Friday evening entertainment when it broadcasts tonight at 10:40pm, reports the Mirror.

The critical consensus for the film describes it as "a visually dazzling puzzle for film lovers to unlock, Tenet serves up all the cerebral spectacle audiences expect from a Christopher Nolan production."

And one critics' review reads: "It is easy to sit back and revel in the wonder of the big-screen experience, and to immediately want to see the film again. And again."

Numerous fans have awarded Tenet five-star Google reviews, including this cinema enthusiast who gushed: "Mind bending awesome movie. Designed for multiple viewings.

"A must watch for sci-fi and time travel movie enthusiasts. Production value high. Deserves 5 stars."

The film has been hailed as one that demands multiple viewings. One viewer enthused: "This movie is meant to be watched more than one time and seems to get better with each watch.

"To briefly sum it up without spoilers, this movie is arguably (if not the most) the most mind bending sci-fi film ever.

"Every scene in the movie plays significance and contain subtle details that hint at the bigger picture."

Another chimed in: "There aren't many times when I watch a movie and then have it on my mind for several days afterwards.

"This is definitely a film you have to watch twice. It really is mind blowing."

And a final fan declared on X: "TENET gets better every time you rewatch it, the chaos starts making sense, and the craft hits harder."

Tenet airs Friday, 15th August at 10:40pm on BBC One and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
