New Delhi . Abdullah Maulvi, MA Abdullah Maulvi, MA Abdullah Moulvi, ASMANNUR of Ernakulam District, is incredibly self -sufficient in selecting his favorite reel on social media (Social Media) at the age of 104. While searching for a fast prayer song on his son’s smartphone with his delicate fingers and talking to his grandson abroad, the wrinkled face of the cleric glows with pride and happiness. He is one of the about 2.2 million people in Kerala who has become digitally literate through the leading ‘Digi Keralam’ program launched by the state government. The program eventually paved the way for a digital revolution in the state.

Kerala will become the country’s first digital literate
79 -year -old Sarsu, a daily wage laborer by profession, was initially against digital education, but later started a YouTube channel. Similarly, 80 -year -old Sulochana of Muttupuzha started receiving government services on his mobile without any help. With 99.98 percent of the learners gaining basic digital skills and passing in Kerala, Kerala is now fully prepared to declare the country’s ‘first digital literate state’. Officials said that the ‘Digi Keralam’ launched by the Local Self -Governance Department (LSGD) on 22 September 2022 is aimed at achieving complete digital literacy in the state on the lines of the entire literacy campaign of 1991.

Training has been given
Under this campaign, digitally illiterate people were identified and they were trained in tasks ranging from the ongoing/closing of smartphones to using digital equipment and online access to government services. LSGD Minister MB Rajesh said that 21,87,677 digital illiterate individuals identified through a survey conducted between 83,45,879 families across the state have been trained to effectively use digital devices. He said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will officially declare Kerala as a digital literate state at a ceremony held at the Central Stadium here on 21 August.

What did the minister tell
Rajesh said that the digital literacy program has been implemented on the model of the historic entire literacy movement in the state decades ago. The minister said that out of millions of millions of digital literacy, more than 15,000 people are over 90 years of age like Abdullah. Abdullah’s son Faizal told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that digital education has brought a very positive change in his daily life at this age. Now he can easily watch the news on YouTube and make a video call from his grandson abroad.
