According to the Bhavan register, Rajesh's entry was made at 2:52 pm on Tuesday.
However, according to the staff of the Gujarati Samaj Bhavan, Rajesh had arrived at the Gujarati Samaj Bhavan around 1-1:30 pm. Rajesh stayed in room D5 on the second floor of the Bhavan.
The suspect checked out at 7:25 am on Wednesday. The Gujarati Samaj Bhavan is located hardly 700 meters from the CM's official residence at Civil Lines.
"He checked in on Tuesday and checked out on Wednesday morning,"a Bhavan employee told UNI.
After reaching the CM house, he carried out the attack but was overpowered by the security staff. He was then taken to the Civil Lines Police Station. Later at night on Wednesday, he was produced before Tis Hazari Court.
The Tis Hazari Court has remanded Khimjibhai in five-day police custody. The police revealed that the attack was not a spontaneous act, but was planned in advance. During the Jan Sunwai, the accused not only hit her with documents, but also allegedly slapped her and pulled her hair before being subdued by security.
The investigation has also revealed that the accused was in constant touch with an unidentified person over the phone. The Delhi Police will now examine his call detail records and send his mobile phone to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for examination. A recreation of the crime scene is also being considered.
The case has prompted a top-level security review. The Chief Minister will now be protected by a Z+ category security ring, with two female Personal Security Officers (PSOs) accompanying her at all times, backed by CRPF jawans. The Delhi Police has briefed the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on the incident and the ongoing investigation.
An FIR has been registered under three stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including attempt to murder. The accused was jointly interrogated by the local police, the Special Cell, and Intelligence Bureau officials.
