Jadon Sancho's future at Manchester United remains uncertain after being sidelined by head coach Ruben Amorim. The former England winger has not featured for the club since the Community Shield in 2024 and spent last season on loan at Chelsea.
After an underwhelming stint at Stamford Bridge, where he netted only three Premier League goals in 31 appearances, Chelsea opted to pay a £5m penalty fee to return him to Manchester rather than securing his services permanently for £25m. Since his return to Carrington, Sancho has been training separately from the first team and was even given extra time off by Amorim to facilitate a transfer. However, with less than 10 days remaining in the transfer window, Sancho is still officially a United player. At just 25, Sancho still has ample opportunity to fulfil the potential he demonstrated at Borussia Dortmund, as we examine the current transfer situation surrounding the forward...
Sancho's double rejectionDespite the ticking clock in the transfer window, Sancho's future remains unclear. Roma and Besiktas have shown interest in the forward as he seeks to revive his once-promising career.
However, reports suggest that a move to the Turkish Super Lig does not appeal to Sancho, despite the prospect of reuniting with former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who brought the winger to the club in 2021.
Sancho, who is reportedly earning £250,000 on the five-year contract he signed upon his Old Trafford arrival, has been linked with a move to Serie A. However, it's believed that the Italian side are hesitant to match his wages and Sancho himself is not thought to be keen on a move to Rome.
United have significantly bolstered their attacking options this summer with the acquisitions of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, but midfield remains a problem area for Amorim. Earlier this month, United were rumoured to be interested in Brighton's Carlos Baleba, who had an impressive 2024/25 season with the Seagulls.
The 21-year-old was said to be open to a switch to Old Trafford but has reportedly been valued at around £120m by his current club. Per the Independent, United are trying to work out how they would structure payments of the fee to Brighton, with one possible solution being to offer an £80m fee with the remainder of the figure made up of add-ons.
Another option, although unlikely, could have been to include Sancho in the transfer to the Amex Stadium, but this is not seen as a deal Brighton would be willing to accept.
The Serie A giants are among a few teams reportedly interested in signing Sancho this month. However, Juventus are said to only consider signing the winger if they're able to offload one of their other forwards.
Juventus' general manager, Damien Comolli, who previously served as Liverpool's sporting director from 2010 to 2012, has confirmed that the United star is on their radar.
ViaSport Witness, the Frenchman said: "I think the club is very attractive; many agents and players are calling me. After all, we are Juventus, and we want to get back to winning ways. Securing Conceicao's permanence was a clear and strong decision because he can play on both fronts. We have two of the best wingers in the world, and Nico is a great player. If someone were to leave, we will consider him [Sancho]."
There's been some controversy over squad numbers at Old Trafford. When Sancho made his £72m move to United in 2021, he was given the number 25 shirt, which he wore until his loan move to Chelsea last season.
However, during his absence, the number - which Sancho last wore in what is likely to be his final appearance for United in the 2024 Community Shield - was given to Manuel Ugarte following his transfer to the club last year from PSG.
Adding fuel to the fire, Sancho was not included in the matchday squad for United's Premier League opener against Arsenal, nor has he been assigned a squad number for the 2025-26 season, suggesting a possible departure in this transfer window.
