Mumbai: In a horrific incident, a woman and her lover from Nanded district of Maharashtra were killed and thrown into a well after they were caught in an objectionable situation, the police said on Tuesday. The police have arrested three members of the deceased woman's family, including her father, for their involvement in the alleged double murder. Police said the hands and legs of both deceased individuals were tied when their bodies were recovered. An investigation has been launched into the matter.
The incident happened in Karkala village in Umri Tehsil, where the father-in-law of the deceased found her with a man and reported this to her family. The woman was already married to someone else and was with her lover when the father-in-law saw them.
When the woman's father, grandfather, and uncle reached the Karkala village, they insisted on taking both of them back with them. They left for the village, and on the way, they killed both of them and threw them in a nearby well.
Archana Patil, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), said, "The family members, which included her father, uncle, and grandfather, took both of them with them and left for the village. And on the way, they killed both of them and threw them in a nearby well. We have arrested all three accused and are investigating the case further."
In a similar incident, a woman's dead body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Latur, the police said on Tuesday. The incident has caused panic in the area.
