There are currently only three days of dry weather forecast for September in the UK. Maps from forecaster WXCHARTS show that, while a lot of rain is expected to hit the country in the next few weeks, there will be a few days with no rainfall at all.

The Met Office issued an urgent yellow weather warning for rain today. The warning came into force at 7.56am and applies until 4pm on Thursday. It covers several parts of Wales. Britain will also be lashed by rain in a few days' time, with wind gusts pushing 50mph in some spots. A 600-mile-long band of rain stretching from the north of Scotland to the South of England is expected at 3pm on Saturday. More rain is expected throughout the first half of September, including on September 2 and September 10, when it will stretch from Wick in Scotland to Cardiff in Wales, with up to 10mm per hour of rain expected in Aberdeen.

But, from September 7 to September 9, dry conditions will be seen across the country.

On September 7, rain can be seen swirling above Amsterdam, but it won't make its way over to the UK. On September 8, at midnight, the weather will be dry again over the UK.

As for September 9, at 6am, maps show a large wall of rain will be seen towards the west of the UK, but the UK will once again remain dry.

This comes after summer 2025 has been called "almost certainly" the hottest summer on record for the UK, BBC reports.

The mean temperature across the country - which includes overnight lows as well as daytime highs - currently stands at 16.13C (61.03F) with less than a week of the season left to run.

This is in line with evidence that summers are getting hotter and drier because of climate change.

A Met Office Forecast says: "Changeable and unsettled weather conditions are expected across the UK during this period with low pressure systems tending to dominate the overall pattern.

"This will mean showers or longer spells of rain will affect the majority of the UK at times. Some heavy rain or showers are expected in places, most often in the west."

It adds that thunderstorms and hail are also possible, as are some spells of strong winds if any deep areas of low pressure form in the vicinity of the UK.

It also says some short-lived spells of drier and more settled weather are also possible at times.

The Met Office continues: "Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly below overall, but may rise above at times in any drier, sunnier spells."
