Gmail cyber crime: Cyber criminals are constantly targeting people by searching for new methods in the digital age. Recently, hackers have adopted a new tactic to cheat Gmail users. They are stealing and cheating users’ data by sending fake sign-in alert emails.
According to Google, now almost all users are sent sign-in alerts on their behalf. Taking advantage of this, hackers are sending emails that look exactly like real. These include Google’s logo, formatting and ‘threat to safety’ messages. These emails often have a link or button, such as Check Activity or Secure Your Account. But this link takes directly to a fake login page, where the password inserted by the user is immediately stolen.
According to the report, around 2.5 billion Gmail users are active worldwide. Of these, only 36% of users regularly update their password. Cyber security experts believe that changing the password from time to time is the easiest way to avoid such risks.
