A dramatic incident took place on August 28, 2025 in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Raj Saxena created chaos by climbing a high-voltage electric tower to demand his wife’s younger sister. Saxena, who married his first wife in 2021, died a year later due to illness. He then married his elder sister. According to reports, two years after his second marriage, Saxena claimed that he fell in love with his current wife’s younger sister and was adamant on marrying her too.
When his wife turned down the proposal, Saxena, reminiscent of the Bollywood classic film Sholay, climbed the tower in Chibramau, Kannauj and shouted his demands. A huge crowd gathered to see this spectacle, police and family members took seven hours to convince him to get down. Officers and relatives finally pacified Saxena by assuring that his request would be considered, although no final solution was stated.
The incident reminds me of a similar incident on August 4, 2025 in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, where Pawan Pandey climbed a mobile tower and threatened that if his “girlfriend” Khushboo was not brought for marriage, he would jump from the tower. After a five -hour encounter, the police came to know that Pandey was implicated in an online scam. According to the PTI report, the woman he loved was a fake Instagram profile that was used to make money. Legal action was taken against Pandey to spread public unrest.
Saxena’s case, although not associated with any online scam, highlights emotional and social complications, and attracts significant attention. Police investigation continues to locate further details, no allegations have been filed against Saxena till August 29, 2025. These incidents underline the need for awareness about mental health and online fraud in the region.
