Ganesh utsav special, nariyal modak recipe: The holy festival of Ganesh festival is going on and everyone is engaged in service and worship of Bappa in their house. Everyday Lord Ganesha is offered different sweets. Everyone knows that Bappa is very dear to Modak. Therefore, devotees try to make modaks of different tastes daily. In this episode, today we have brought for you the easy recipe of coconut modak, which is very simple to be delicious as well. It is prepared from coconut and jaggery.

Ganesh utsav special, nariyal modak recipe

Material (Ganesh utsav special, nariyal modak recipe)

For stuffing (stuffing):

  • Fresh coconut (grated) – 1 cup
  • Jaggery (grated) – ¾ cup
  • Cardamom Powder – ½ tsp
  • Ghee – 1 teaspoon
  • Dried dry fruits (finely chopped, optional) – 2 tablespoons

For flour (exterior of modak):

  • Rice flour – 1 cup
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Salt – 1 pinch
  • Ghee – 1 teaspoon

Method (Ganesh utsav special, nariyal modak recipe)

1. Heat ghee in a pan. Add grated coconut and jaggery to it. Cook on a medium flame for 5-7 minutes, until the mixture melts the mixture slightly thick. Now add cardamom powder and dry fruits. Keep the mixture separate to cool down.

2. Heat water in another pan. Add salt and ghee to it. As soon as the water starts boiling, add rice flour to it and mix well so that kernels are not made. Cover it and cook on low heat for 2 minutes. Remove it from the heat and let it cool down and then knead the soft dough.

3. Take small dough of flour and shape a cup with fingers. Fill a mixture of 1 teaspoon coconut-jaggery in it. Lift the edges up and give the shape of modak and close it on top. Similarly, prepare all modaks.

4. Steam modak in idli cooker or steamer for 10-15 minutes. Apply some ghee on top and serve hot.
