Actress, model, and entrepreneur Komal Aziz Khan believes Instagram has given women a powerful platform to start and grow their businesses. She said Meta’s chief Mark Zuckerberg made life easier for women by introducing Instagram, where many are now running successful ventures.
Komal recently appeared on Nida Yasir’s morning show. During the program, she shared her journey and offered business advice for women.
She suggested women should not wait to quit their jobs. Instead, they should start a small business on the side. With time, effort, and investment, she said, women can build something meaningful. Once they earn enough income from business, they can leave their jobs and focus fully on entrepreneurship.
Komal explained that she had planned to start a business since her student life. She entered showbiz strategically, choosing acting and modeling to first gain recognition. She believed her popularity would later help her business succeed.
While working in the entertainment industry, she also grew her Instagram presence. Her aim was to increase followers and use the platform to promote her clothing brand.
She said when her followers crossed 500,000, she began advertising her brand directly on Instagram. As her earnings grew, she stepped away from acting and dedicated her time fully to business.
Komal emphasized that Instagram became a vital tool in her journey. It required patience, consistent effort, and financial input, but eventually brought her steady income.
She also pointed out that women today face challenges in opening physical shops. But online platforms give them a chance to build businesses from home.
Komal again praised Zuckerberg for creating Instagram, saying it has empowered women to work on their own terms. She added that many women are now earning through Instagram.
Giving an example, she mentioned working with girls who designed mehndi (henna) patterns online. Such collaborations, she said, prove how digital platforms are supporting women-led businesses.
