According to Dimsum DailyChan kept her look casual, wearing a crocheted top and matching handbag she made herself, and queued like any other patron. Even so, her appearance drew attention: an assistant shaded her from the sun while a bodyguard stood nearby.

Chan, 46, began her career as an entertainment reporter at Apple Daily in 1999 and was well known among celebrities, per The Straits Times. Hong Kong filmmaker-comedian Stephen Chow once playfully pinched her cheek in public, and she reportedly joined him for meals. She also accompanied him to the after-party when he won Best Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards for the 2001 film “Shaolin Soccer.”

She married Lau, 74, in 2016.

According to ForbesLau is the former chairman of Chinese Estates, which he largely acquired in 1986. He holds substantial prime real estate in Hong Kong and owns artwork by Warhol, Gauguin, and Hockney valued at over US$1 billion.

As of Sept. 3, his net worth was estimated at US$13.6 billion, ranking him the world’s 198th-richest person and fifth-richest in Hong Kong.
