As John Hughes’ legendary ’80s film “The Breakfast Club” celebrates four decades of making detention iconic, we found fresh inspiration in its aesthetics, from the perfectly preppy to the subversively renegade.
Now part of the coming-of-age canon, the movie stars a quintet of brilliant Brat Packers — Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and Emilio Estevez — each representing an academic archetype. We’ve updated those characters for our 2025 era cover shoot.
Meet: The Brain, The Artist, The It Girl, The Athlete and The Rebel. Every one of our “model students” embraces eccentric flair and enduring style without apology. Because, as Sheedy’s character points out, “We’re all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it.” — Carrie Seim
