The legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has taken a new turn. A judge recently blocked a deposition involving pop star Taylor Swift.

Earlier, Swift was expected to be subpoenaed by Baldoni’s legal team in May. Justin’s team claimed that Swift had agreed to appear for a deposition in October. Swift’s lawyer clarified, however, that she never agreed voluntarily.

Judge Liman denied a request for an extension from Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties. This ruling means Swift will not be required to attend a deposition.

The judge said, “The Wayfarer Parties have not shown good reason for their requested extension. Their only explanation is that Swift’s prior work commitments prevent her from attending before October 20, 2025.”

The court also pointed out that the legal team had not been diligent. “Discovery has been ongoing for about six months. The Wayfarer Parties first requested Swift’s deposition in May 2025, but later withdrew the subpoena. They have not served a renewed subpoena. No timeline for scheduling has been provided,” the judge noted.

The ruling concluded, “The requested extension is denied due to lack of proper diligence.”

The dispute between Lively and Baldoni started in December 2024. Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni. She claimed damages to their professional and personal disagreements. Later, Justin Baldoni filed a $300 million counter-lawsuit, accusing Lively of defamation.

This case has attracted widespread media attention. The recent ruling regarding Swift adds another dramatic development. It highlights the legal strategies and complications involved in celebrity lawsuits.
