New Delhi: Alakh Pandey is the Founder and CEO of PhysicsWallah Indias leading most affordable Ed-tech platform which provides an accessible comprehensive and state-of-the-art learning experience. From earning just Rs 5000 a month Alakh has risen to build a company valued at thousands of crores. He is now in the limelight as his venture PhysicsWallah is set to launch a ₹3820 crore IPO. After completing his schooling Alakh Pandey took admission in an engineering college in Kanpur. However he dropped out midway and returned to Prayagraj (Allahabad). Back in Prayagraj he continued to pursue his passion for teaching and started working at a coaching institute earning Rs 5000. Today his company has become a unicorn — a term used for companies with a market capitalization of over 1 billion dollars. Alakh Pandey: His Journey In 2010 Alakh completed his Class 12 studies at Bishop Johnson School and College. After that he got admission into B.Tech at HBTI Kanpur. In 2015 he completed his B.Tech from HBTI Kanpur and began teaching at the same institute. He started recording his lectures and uploading them on YouTube. This is how PhysicsWallah began in 2017 as a YouTube channel. It quickly gained popularity among students preparing for competitive exams. As the views and subscribers grew Alakh decided to dedicate his full attention to creating and uploading lecture videos. In 2020 Alakh Pandey registered PhysicsWallah under the Companies Act officially turning the channel into a company. He was later joined by Prateek Maheshwari an engineering graduate from IIT-BHU. While Prateek took charge of business operations Alakh focused entirely on academics. From there the company’s popularity continued to rise. After the IPO PhysicsWallah’s valuation is expected to reach around $5 billion (approximately Rs 44000 crore). Alakh recently shared a video on the company’s Instagram account. In it he is seen standing in the very room in Prayagraj where PhysicsWallah began. In the video he says If that Alakh Pandey didn’t exist back then then today’s Alakh Pandey PhysicsWallah this revolution—none of it would have existed.” Recalling the old days he adds “Fifteen years ago PhysicsWallah started in this very classroom… I used to come here on a bicycle and that bicycle didn’t even have a stand… Wherever you are in life dream big have courage. And work so hard for that dream… that one day meeting you itself becomes a dream for others.
