New Delhi: Following high-voltage encounter in the Asia Cup 2025 clash between India and Pakistan the support staff not only avoided shaking hands with Pakistans player but also reportedly closed their dressing room door on Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha.
India secured a convincing seven-wicket win over Pakistan but their was no post-match pleasantries exchanged. Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson broke his silence and expressed disappointment stating that the Indian camp deliberately declined handshakes even when the Pakistan team approached them.
Salman Ali Agha headed to the Indian dressing room
According to a Times of India report Salman Ali Agha headed to the Indian dressing room but no players stepped out to meet him. India’s decision to skip the traditional handshake left Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson frustrated prompting him to break his silence and clarify that Pakistan were willing to shake hands.
We were ready to shake hands at the end of the game. We are disappointed that our opposition did not do that. We went over there to shake hands but they had already gone into the changing room. It was a disappointing way for the match to finish and in a match where we were disappointed with the way we played. Certainly we were willing to go and shake hands Hesson said during the post-match press conference.
Suryakumar Yadav headed directly to the dressing room
After smashing the winning six against Pakistan Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav headed directly to the dressing room along with his partner Shivam Dube who was batting with him at the time.
Although the Indian players and staff celebrated by among each other they did not offer handshakes to the opposition while Suryakumar Yadav also avoided shaking hands or making an eye contact with Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha during the toss.
Political tensions between India and Pakistan have increased after the Pahalgam terror attack and the cross-border military exchanges in April and May 2025.

India’s win over Pakistan marks their second consecutive victory in the Asia Cup. The two teams might win again in a week if both enter the Super Four stage of the tournament.
