The defending champions of Asia Cup T20, Sri Lanka, is all set to face the ambitious Hong Kong in the eight match of the continental tournament. The match is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, DICS at 08:00 PM IST.
Having won their opening clash against Bangladesh by six wickets, Sri Lanka will now aim for huge and convincing victory over Hong Kong inorder to boost their NRR. Nissanka and Mishara were the standout performer with the bat for Lanka in their previous game, while all-rounder Hasaranga was a key factor with the ball, having claimed two wickets. Skipper Asalanka will hope for an even better outing in this match.
Hong Kong, who are out of the qualification race, will play their last match in this tournament. Captain Yasmin Murtaza will look to end their campaign on a positive note by surging an upset against Sri Lanka tonight. All eyes will be on Babar Hayat, Zeeshan Ali, Nizakat Khan and Ateeq Iqbal, who had a decent tournament, despite overall team's struggle.
Sri Lankan skipper Charith Aslanka tosses the coin and it lands in the favor of Lanka. The skipper of the island nation opts to bowl first and restrict Hong Kong China at a low score. Theekshana replaces Pathirana in SL XI, considering the dry nature of the pitch.
Here's what the captains said at the toss:
Charith Asalanka:
"Just looks decent. We want to chase. One change. Theekshana comes in for Pathirana. Really happy with the performance. Almost perfect game for us. Just want to keep going. We cant underestimate any team specially in the shorter formats. We need to do the basics right."
Yasmin Murtaza:
"To be honest, we did well against Bangladesh. There is one change. We talk about winning but it is important to have a good work ethic. Our coach says we need to take care of the work ethic, results will take care of themselves. We have a few things to work on."
