New Delhi: Batting first Hong Kong scored 149 runs for 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Opener Zeeshan Ali gave a quick start by scoring 23 runs off 17 balls. Anshuman Rath played a controlled innings and scored 48 runs (46 balls). Captain Nizakat Khan stayed till the end and scored an unbeaten 52 off 38 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. Hong Kong got 13 runs as extras in the innings which helped the team reach a respectable score.
Nissanka laid the foundation for victory
Sri Lankas innings started strongly. Opener Pathum Nissanka scored 68 runs off just 44 balls. His innings included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Nissanka batted aggressively and put the team in a strong position.However after his dismissal Sri Lankas innings faltered and lost 3 wickets in 3 overs.
Hasaranga and Shanaka brought victory
The match became tense after the 16th over but Wanindu Hasaranga (20* runs 9 balls) and captain Dasun Shanaka (6* runs) kept composure and led Sri Lanka to victory in 18.5 overs.
Murtazas impact in captaincy and bowling
Hong Kong captain Yasim Murtaza performed brilliantly with the ball and took 2 wickets including important wickets like Nissanka and Kamindu Mendis. He also contributed with the bat.
