Students Unite for Elephant Conservation at Hati Sabha in Ganjam District

A Commitment to Protect Elephants and Their Habitat

Digapahandi/Patapur: In a significant initiative, students from Ramajee Degree College located in Bhismagiri village, within the Ganjam district, pledged their commitment to elephant and forest conservation during a special event known as Hati Sabha held on Monday.


This event was organized by various groups including Tree Foundation and local organizations. The students made a vow to refrain from harming elephants, participating in poaching, or destroying forest areas. They emphasized that protecting elephants is synonymous with preserving nature, which in turn is essential for humanity's survival. Principal Nihar Ranjan Kar, the chief guest, underscored the ecological and social significance of elephants. Asheshnath Mishra, a reporter from Dharitri, informed attendees about the local impact of elephants.


Secretary Nirakar Bishoi from Tree Foundation remarked on the vital role elephants play in maintaining forests, which are crucial for protecting water and soil, thereby supporting human existence.



The Hati Sabha saw participation from over 120 students who engaged in discussions and took the oath. Faculty members including Kanhu Charan Padhi, Itiprabha, Priyadarshini Pradhan, and Rashmita Kumari were also present. Debabrata Panda, a faculty member, coordinated the event and expressed gratitude at its conclusion. The program was supported by Bikash Saathi office bearers Tushar Behera, Achyuta Bishoi, and Chandrasekhar Das.
