8th Pay Commission Big Update: Good news for the government employees and pensioners the Modi government is set to implement the 8th Pay Commission soon. According to the media reports the confirmation has been made by the government official. The 8th Pay Commission could be implemented from the year 2026 i.e. from next year itself. To recall last month a delegation from the Government Employees National Confederation (GENC) met Union Minister Jitendra Singh. During this meeting the minister said that he is in talks with the state government regarding the 8th Pay Commission. Those who are eagerly waiting for the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission must note that it is being speculated that the basic salary of government employees could be increased from Rs 18000 to Rs 26000. However no official confirmation has been made yet. Here are some of the key details: In India a Pay Commission is set up every 10 years. Its purpose is to review the salaries allowances and pension benefits of all government employees and pensioners. The 8th Pay Commission is expected to benefit about 50 lakh government employees and 65 lakh pensioners. Along with the 8th Pay Commission government employees may also get good news regarding Dearness Allowance. DA for government employees from June to December 2025 may see a higher increase compared to the previous revision. For January–June 2025 DA was raised by only 2 percent. However considering inflation data experts estimate a 3 percent increase this time. Currently the DA for central government employees and pensioners stands at 55 percent. The announcement for the next revision could be made in October or November.
