China says that AI can bring terrorist organizations to such technology and knowledge that can make weapons such as nuclear missiles, biological and chemical weapons. This condition is a serious threat to global peace and safety. In the new AI Safety Governance Document released on Monday, Chinese Cyber Security officials have given a clear warning that if AI is not strict control, this technique can destroy the world in the wrong hands.
According to China, AI’s Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technique can draw a huge amount of information from the Internet and data base and make it available in easy language. This facility can also easily provide information to weapons design and construction to the terrorists.
China says that if this happens, the existing security systems will be ineffective and the whole world may be in a deep crisis. The report is an update to the Global AI Governance Initiative, which came out last year, which has been prepared by China’s National Cybercharity Standards Technical Committee and the National Computer Network Emergency Team.
China had earlier declared AI’s dual-use technology dangerous in the 2024 framework. This meant that the same technology which is helpful in common work can also be used in making weapons. But the new document has moved beyond this. It clearly states that AI can prove to be helpful in creating WMDs (WMDs). Apart from this, the report also expressed concern that AI chatbots can tie people as addiction, which can also affect education and innovation.
China’s warning is a clear indication that if AI technology is not controlled globally and rules, it can prove to be the biggest threat to humanity in the future.
