Punjab Government Prioritizes Health Amid Flood Crisis

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has demonstrated its commitment to prioritizing public health and safety, even during challenging times. In flood-affected areas, health camps initially served around 51,000 individuals on September 16, but this figure skyrocketed to 150,000 the following day. This remarkable increase highlights the government's prompt recognition of the crisis and its immediate action to provide essential support to those in need, reassuring families that they are not alone.

Chief Minister Mann has instructed the Health and Family Welfare Department to ensure that no affected family is denied health services. He emphasized that floods not only devastate homes and farmland but also elevate health risks significantly. Therefore, the government's primary focus is to guarantee that every citizen receives necessary treatment. Thanks to these initiatives, thousands have received timely medical care, effectively mitigating the risk of disease outbreaks.

On September 14, the Mann Government initiated a targeted health campaign aimed at swiftly addressing potential post-flood illnesses, delivering primary healthcare directly to communities, and safeguarding vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, and young children. The Chief Minister ensured that the strategies devised at the state level were promptly executed in villages, resulting in an unprecedented number of beneficiaries from health camps in a short timeframe.

To date, health camps have been established in 2,303 villages, providing not only check-ups and treatments but also preventive measures against diseases that commonly arise after floods, including fever, diarrhea, and skin infections. Large teams of healthcare professionals are actively working in the affected regions, offering medications and health education, which has fostered trust within rural communities.

In addition to human health, the Mann Government has also focused on animal welfare. So far, 14,780 animals have received treatment, and 48,535 have been vaccinated at no cost. Special measures are being taken for the safe disposal of deceased animals to prevent water and soil contamination. This comprehensive approach underscores the government's commitment to ensuring the health and safety of both people and animals.

Chief Minister Mann stated, "We are conducting door-to-door checkups, and immediate spraying occurs wherever mosquito larvae are detected. Public safety is our utmost priority." This declaration reflects the government's proactive stance and the administration's engagement at all levels. The Punjab Government's rapid and effective actions have instilled hope among families affected by the floods. The dramatic rise from 51,000 to 150,000 beneficiaries in just 24 hours illustrates not only effective planning but also robust implementation on the ground.
