Navratri fast for diabetic patients: Sharadiya Navratri has started. In this holy fast of nine days, nine forms of Mata Durga are worshiped. Apart from worship in Navratri, fasting also has special significance. Many people keep fast, but many people are unable to keep fast due to lack of health. In this way, there is a dilemma about fasting in the minds of people suffering from diabetes.

Patients suffering from diabetes disease may not have any problem in fasting. Both Ayurveda and modern sciences consider to be safe for diabetes patients to keep fast with some important precautions.

Fasting removes toxic elements from the body

Actually it is good to keep a fast here, if Ayurveda is believed, then the body is to maintain balance with the fifth elements and if the fast is done properly, then it works to remove the toxic elements of the body and relax the digestive system. Fasting in diabetes is possible only when it is considered to be the process of ‘eating correctly’ instead of ‘staying hungry’.

Diabetes patients attention to these things

1-Diabetes patients can keep a fast of Navratri. If there is a lack of glucose in the body during the fast, then weakness, dizziness, and even unconsciousness can come. For this, you should eat food with some nutritious and low glycemic index in two to three hours. Here, options like Sama’s rice, kuttu or Rajgira flour, boiled sweet potato, makhane and cheese are considered excellent because they are slowly digested and do not allow blood sugar to grow suddenly.

2- During the fast, there is often a shortage of water for this, for this, they have been drinking water. In addition to water, coconut water, without sugar, lemonade, or buttermilk, keep the body refreshed as well as the lack of electrolytes to prevent dehydration in the body.

3- During the fast you should avoid consuming fried and frying sweets. Instead of consuming any fry things, you can eat boiled, roasted or slightly cracked things. This will not only control sugar but will not put too much weight on the stomach. Choose natural options like stevia or jaggery instead of sugar.

4-In Ayurveda, the fast is considered a way to cleanse the body and soul, so do not forget to take your medicines on time during this time. If you are on insulin or taking a special medicine, then consult a doctor before starting the fast.
