Modi govt announces 30 days’ bonus for employees, check eligibility

New Delhi: As the festive season approaches the central government has decided to add to the festive cheer of its employees. For this the Modi government has announced a productivity-linked bonus. An order was issued by the Finance Ministry on Monday 29 September 2025 stating that central government Group C and Non-Gazetted Group B employees will receive an “Ad-hoc Bonus” equivalent to 30 days’ salary for 2024-25. This amount has been fixed at Rs 6908. Criteria for bonus All employees who are in service as of March 31 2025 and who have worked continuously for at least six months will be eligible for this bonus. If someone has not worked for the entire year they will receive a bonus based on the months worked (pro-rata basis). The Finance Ministry says… “…is directed to convey the sanction of the President to grant of Non-Productivity Linked Bonus (Ad-hoc Bonus) equivalent to 30 days emoluments for the accounting year 2024-25 to all Central Government employees in Group ‘C’ and all non-gazetted Central Government employees in Group ‘B’ who are not covered by any Productivity Linked Bonus Scheme.” Who will benefit? The eligible employees of the central paramilitary forces and the armed forces are also entitled to this bonus. Additionally employees in Union Territories (UTs) who work under the central government’s pay structure and do not receive any other bonus or ex gratia will also be eligible for this. Ad-hoc employees will also be eligible provided there are no breaks in their service. Casual labourers with experience of working for a certain number of days in the last three years will also be eligible for the bonus. The bonus amount for these employees has been fixed at Rs 1184.
