The Excise Department has announced the official dry days list for October 2025. As per the notice, liquor shops, pubs, bars, and restaurants across the state will remain closed on 2 October (Thursday).

The day marks Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and also coincides with Dussehra, one of the most significant Hindu festivals.

On dry days, the sale of alcohol is strictly banned in all licensed outlets. Restaurants and hotels will not be allowed to serve liquor, and shops will stay shut for the entire day. The restrictions are applicable to both government and private license holders.

Authorities have requested citizens to plan ahead, as strict monitoring will be conducted to ensure compliance. Drinking in public places on dry days is also a punishable offence.

Dry days are observed to maintain the sanctity of national holidays and important religious occasions. However, they often see regular buyers stocking up in advance before outlets shut down.

Interestingly, the notice does not mention Diwali as a dry day so far, though further updates may be issued later in the month.

The Excise Department has urged people to follow the rules and extend cooperation.
